Manners anyone?

Is there anything I hate more than a person who is CONSTANTLY on their cell phone? NO.

I think it is incredibly rude to be yapping away on your cell phone while someone is cutting your hair or doing your nails. The worst offender I ever witnessed was a woman (probably in her mid 30's, i.e. old enough to know better) who literally talked to the same person on her cell phone during her entire pedicure AND manicure. Imagine this poor manicurist trying to do her nails while she shifts her phone from hand to hand. It was ridiculous and SO rude! And guess what? The other people in the salon do not need to hear your conversation! Another cell phone faux pas, a friend who answers his or her phone while you're with them and proceeds to talk for an extended period of time. I think anyone who gets a cell phone should have to attend and complete a cell phone etiquette class - is that over-the-top?

Autumn Decor

I love decorating my house for the fall! Here are some items I need to add to my collection....

I have always loved the large pumpkin tureen from Willliams Sonoma but I didn't see it this year on their web site - oh no! Anyway, these smaller versions will suffice.

These candles are adorable!

A seasonal guest towel with a monogram - does it get any better?

Love the color of this pie dish - it matches my sofa!

I love, love, love these and I have the perfect place in mind for them....

I have three glass jars that need a little something Fall-ish.

Can I have a front porch that looks like this someday? I hope so....

I am dying to try this! Yum!

And I can never get through the Fall without making at least one of these delicious pumpkin loaves....

....and does anything smell better wafting through the house than freshly mulled cider?

I can't wait!

If any of you lovely readers have been watching TLC lately, you're sure to have seen the preview for King of the Crown. Needless to say, I cannot wait! Is there anything I love more than a gay pageant coach? If there is, I haven't found it yet....

Emmy Fashion Review

So, I have to admit - I did not watch the Emmys or the Red Carpet. A travesty! In my defense, there was a very important football game on and I had to make sure that the Cowboys lost. They did. :) However, first thing this morning, I checked what all my favorite ladies (and some gentlemen) were wearing last night. Here are my thoughts....

I thought she looked good but the dress was a tad....um....sexy for my liking. Try leaving a little more to the imagination? Maybe it's just me.....

This I just really didn't like. If you have a cute figure and you're a young girl, why would you wear something so unflattering? Plus, her make-up is way too severe.

Isn't she like 20 years old? I think this is beautiful but it seems a little old for her. I could see Helen Mirren pulling this off....

Usually, I love the way Kyra Sedgewick dresses but I was not crazy about this. Maybe it's the big, dark shoe that's throwing me off. LOVE her hair though....

Love, love, love this dress. She looks so elegant!

I love Kristen Chenoweth and I think she looked amazing!

Um, yeah, this one I just don't like....at all.

What other pregnant woman could pull of this dress and look THIS good?

And just because I love him....

What do you think? Who were your favorites and least favorites of the evening?

Random Things.....

1. I think Tory Burch should make a new version of the Reva where the gold and silver metal piece are interchangeable -- meaning you could switch them depending on if you are wearing silver or gold jewelry. I tend to where my silver ball studs almost every day and I also tend to wear my Revas every day but they have the gold medallion. It just bothers me. I think I need to speak to Tory about this....

2. My dear friend Lindsay is pregnant and her first baby - a boy - is due in less than a month! She shared with me one of her gifts from her latest shower and I had to share it with you. Too cute!!!

3. Tim Gunn is going to be at Tysons Galleria this weekend!!! I just heard it on the radio this evening and I am SO excited! I love him! I am totally going - anyone in the area care to join me???

4. My new haircut. I think I like it - it doesn't look a whole lot different from my old hair - just shorter. I opted for the medium, Reese-like cut -- some bangs but not too severe. Here are the results - please excuse the close-up pic.

Thank you all so much for your advice - I love having your opinions!!! :) I hope you like the result!

Crucial Decision

Ok, I am getting my hair cut tomorrow and I need your opinions. Currently, my hair is blonde, layered, and too long. I want it to be full, bouncy, and healthy-looking. I want to keep the color but what to do about the cut?! Here are some options - help me choose!

Here is a lady you might recognize - it's Kelly from Kelly's Korner. I LOVE her hair but am not sure I can pull it off - it may be too drastic of a change for me....

Love the bounce of Reese's hair....

LOVE this hair but could I get mine to look like this every day without the help of a stylist?

Love the bangs, but would they irritate me?

So, lovely ladies, give me your opinions! I need your help!

How are we feeling about this?

Has anyone seen this in person? Is it cute? I'm slightly concerned about the bold pattern but I'm tall (5'10) so I may be able to pull it off.... I'm thinking with some dark jeans and fabulous gold jewelry. Thoughts? Please let me know!

Preppy Style Icon #3

The next recipient of the esteemed Preppy Style Icon award is the future Queen of England, Kate Middleton. She has fabulous personal style - even her name screams prep! Whether attending a royal wedding in an amazing hat or rocking a tweed blazer on her way to work, she always looks put-together and classically stylish.

Have I mentioned that I am obsessed with this look? I am....

Have I mentioned that I love this coat? I do....

I think all ladies should band together and make fabulous hats mandatory for American weddings. Who's with me?

My Rachel Zoe Moment

Yes, dear readers - last Thursday, I had my very own Rachel Zoe moment. Allow me to explain:

A very generous and fashionable lady - one of my mother's dearest friends and my best friend's mother - needed help putting together some outfits for an upcoming trip. She is very busy and - knowing how I LOVE to shop - she offered to pay me to pick out and purchase some items for her. We went over some existing outfits that she had and she gave me some ideas of what she wanted and then she sent me off! She told me not to worry about money (!) and we made a list of items she wanted. Can you believe it? Getting paid to shop?! I loved it! So, below are some of the items I purchased.... Now if only I could have purchased one of each for myself!

A gorgeous Stuart Weitzman clutch - kind of a pewter color with gold accents.

These fabulous Alexis Bittar earrings.....

.....and bracelet!

I proceeded to mecca (otherwise known as J. Crew) where I spent the majority of the moolah....

I am now officially obsessed with this necklace and will be purchasing it in the future. It looks fab with a classic white shirt.

The necklace and the white shirt go with a beautiful pair of brown pants she already has and can be worn with her Tory Burch Revas, shown below.... A cashmere cardigan draped over her shoulders would also be lovely.

Now, my favorite outfit and, yes, I did buy this one for myself as well.... I'm so weak.

Black cashmere cardigan - a must-have.....

I wasn't sure this dress would be cute but with the belt - so adorable and perfect for Fall. Imagine it with my black and gold Tory Burch flats..... Ah, lovely!

Anyway, that was my shopping extravaganza! I have made it very clear to this lady that I ready, willing, and able to be her personal shopper any time she needs me! If I am every lucky enough to have another Rachel Zoe moment, I will share with you again!
