Birthday Wish List

Well, my 2? birthday is next week and I have been mentally compiling a list of gifts for myself. If only I could find a job where I could buy presents for people all day long - I would love it! Some of the items on this list are realistic, some not.... See if you can distinguish between the two!

You know how I feel about monograms! How can I celebrate my 2? birthday without at least one monogrammed item? I couldn't possibly!

Crumbs Bake Shop
delivers cupcakes! You can choose a pack of six different cupcakes! My personal choices.... Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Raspberry Swirl, Red Velvet, Vanilla Sprinkle, Hostess, and Pistachio. What a wonderful birthday treat!

Hmmm....this belongs on my fantasy birthday list but I just had to share it. Isn't it lovely?

I need this dress for the summer baby showers I am attending! Why not ask for it for my birthday???

This one also belongs on the fantasy list.....

I love a summer tunic! This one would look fab with my white capris!

A fully paid-for trip to Nantucket....for a month. Again, the fantasy list....

I love getting flowers and peonies are one of my favorites!

When in doubt, this always works..... :)

Reality TV is my new boyfriend.

Ugh. I'm out. Call me naive but I was really hoping the "big announcement" from Jon & Kate was that they were stopping the show to focus on their marriage and their family. Unfortunately, I was very wrong.

I have been an avid watcher of Jon & Kate Plus 8 for a long time but I refuse to watch a family go through this. I think the children are adorable but I do not want to watch them as they experience the break-up of their parents' marriage. It is just too depressing. The Real Housewives of NJ is much more uplifting. ;)

Speaking of The Real Housewives, did you watch it last night?! Honestly, I was a little underwhelmed. After the table-flipping finale, I was expecting things to get crazy! However, Thursday's Part II looks really entertaining, especially when Caroline refers to Danielle as "garbage".

A couple things.....I love Jacqueline and was very happy to hear that she gave birth to a healthy baby boy BUT did anyone think her lips looked huge and ridiculous?! She had her lips injected during Danielle's botox party but it looks like she's been going overboard with the collagen. She's so pretty - why would she do that? A side note: do you think she uses a bump-it? Her pony tails are fab and always have that bumped look....

No surprise here - Danielle really annoyed me last night. She is so phony and, as Teresa said, she's all drama, drama, drama! It really irritated me that she started to cry when they rehashed the gay slur. Talk about overreacting! She also appeared to get emotional when Caroline discussed their family's ties to the mafia. Puh-lease!

Can't wait for Thursday's show!

Mini Rant

Ok, before I leave on my mini-vacation, I have a mini rant. I went to Banana Republic today to return a shirt I found while cleaning out my closet. I bought it about 6 weeks ago and when I went to return it, the sales girl said she could not do it. Why? Because Banana Republic and Gap now both have 30 day return policies! Now, I think 30 days is a little silly. I think 60 is more reasonable. So, I was surprised but calm. I asked if I could simply get a store credit. No! It is 30 days or nothing!!! This is REALLY irritating to me! Grrrrrr.....

Weekend Wardrobe

I am going away this weekend to a little town just south of the Hamptons. I have never been so I am very excited! Unfortunately, it is looking like it is going to be a little on the rainy and cool side but I am optimistic that we will get some beach time and time to shop! Of course, I am dying to see Ina Garten's former shop and will hopefully also make it here. Maybe I'll even see a Real Housewife of NYC. Anyway, here is a sampling of my weekend wardrobe.....

Enjoy your weekend!

The Real Housewives of NJ Finale.....

.....did not disappoint.

Wow.

Here are my ten observations:

1. The front doors at Teresa's new house are the tackiest, gaudiest front doors I have ever seen. Her whole house is pretty ridiculous. Dina was right - her living room looks like a banquet hall.

2. Caroline's husband Albert's best friend, Bernie, is a shady character. I thought his name sounded familiar....

3. Caroline has always seemed very mafia to me. I can easily picture her being the head of a "family". This article proves that perhaps it's just in her blood....

4. I was SHOCKED by Jacqueline. I cannot believe she stood up against THE family!

5. I have to admit - call me naive - I was surprised that Dina was actually so involved in the release of the book. She kept denying she had anything to do with it and I was actually starting to believe her. I was blinded by the fact that I was really starting to like Dina. Now, not as much.... She clearly lied repeatedly to Danielle. She should have just taken the wrap and said 1. Yes, I told people about the book, 2. I do not like you, Danielle and we will never be friends, 3. I did it in retaliation for rumors you spread about me. Done. Just be honest! Who cares?

6. What were the alleged rumors Danielle spread about Dina? Did they ever discuss that in detail?

7. I was happy that Teresa sent her children out of the room for the fight. Imagine if they had been there to witness their mother's behavior? Good lord.

8. Clearly, Teresa is very insecure about her own intelligence since that is what prompted her to start table tossing followed by a string of expletives. My thoughts on this? When someone gets that defensive about an insinuation that they're stupid, that usually means that they are.

9. The person I liked best at the end of this episode was Jacqueline's husband, Chris. He interceded and made some valid points - they were all acting like fools. So true, but it made for great television.

10. I can't wait for the reunion special!

Baby Names!

One of my BFFs is having a baby boy in October and she has asked for the help of me and all of my preppy blogging friends. She has already settled on an adorable name, James McGee Horton IV, but is unsure about what the baby's everyday name should be....

Mac?
James?
McGee?

What do you think? Any other suggestions? Let me know - we want your feedback!

Bliss....

Just wanted to share a picture of my cozy and beautiful bed!

Ok, that's a lie. This is not my real bed as much as it is my fantasy bed. The only thing it needs is a lovely monogrammed pillow! It will be mine - oh, yes - it will be mine.

Do you ever just feel.....

.....like you need a new dress?

I am feeling that way now. I can rationalize this purchase for the following reasons:

1. Upon reviewing my closet, I have found that the majority of my dresses are black. This probably has something to do with #3.

2. I have two baby showers to attend this summer - one for a baby girl and one for a baby boy and I simply cannot wear black!

3. I have lost 47 pounds since last summer and a lot of my clothes are either too big for me or too blah (i.e. dark colors to conceal my previously larger body).

4. I just want one.

So, here are some options. Thoughts?

Oh, and I'll need these shoes to go with either a pink or navy option. SO cute!

Brace yourself.....

***Note - do not read this post if you are currently eating or planning on eating during the next few hours.

Remember when I went on my first roommate rant? Well, that delightful roommate moved out yesterday and I could not be happier. Now, as you'll see from my first roommate rant, I knew that my roommate was a total and complete slob. However, I had NO idea how disgusting she really was until I saw the bathroom she left behind. Now, let me also say that it was my plan to move into her room once she had moved out - it's the master bedroom so it is much larger and has a lot more closet room. After inspecting her room last night, I don't know if I will be able to do that any longer. Here's why....

I am not exaggerating when I say that I almost threw up. I gagged several times and had to leave the room....but not before documenting it for both you and my landlord. Now, she and I had talked about getting a cleaning service to come in after she left but I think my landlord needs to see this. I don't think there is any way that she should get her whole deposit back when she left her bathroom in this condition. Furthermore, before I decided to stay at my current place, there were realtors bringing prospective renters in and out! That means, they were seeing her bathroom in this condition! I, of course, had NO IDEA it was this bad. What kind of a person - especially a female - could live like this???? I am shocked and disgusted. I was planning on having my mother's cleaning lady come over to clean for us but I will not ask her to do this! How could I?! My real issue is that I really don't know if I can ever live in her room and be comfortable? How can I shower in that bathroom when I know what it used to look like? Ahhhhh!

Oh, no.....

Just saw the preview for this movie (starring Cameron Diaz) and got a little teary. This could be bad for when I actually see the movie in its entirety - bring on the tissues! Have any of you read the book? It is wonderful. I love Jodi Picoult!

Speaking of books, here is another one I am hoping to get my hands on when it comes out (August 11th). I think it will be a perfect beach read and it's about my favorite city, Charleston!

EAT ~ SLEEP ~ SHOP

Remember that book, Eat-Pray-Love? Well, the theme of my fabulous girls weekend in Charleston was more Eat-Sleep-Shop. Instead of searching for spiritual enlightenment, we searched for shoes! I had such a great time! I went with two lovely ladies who I am very proud to call my BFFs. We have been friends since our freshman year at College of Charleston - almost ten years of friendship! I can't believe it! We are planning to make this a yearly tradition. Here's a few photos of our trip....

Here we are on our old campus...it seems like yesterday we were all going to school there together!

Enjoying the most delicious cupcakes. Yes, we went back two days in a row. First day - vanilla. Second day - red velvet. Heaven!

We all sported our Jack Rogers all weekend!

Soon-to-be Mommy Lindsay! She is having a boy in October! Isn't she adorable? :)

Yes, we spent a lot of time in bed.....eating candy. Shopping and eating out can be tiring!

Our final night, we ate at a restaurant on Sullivan's Island. Our trip went by too quickly! I cannot wait to go back again!
