Weekend Wrap-Up

I had a great and very busy weekend. The two most exciting parts of my weekend? ICE! at National Harbor and putting the last of my Christmas decorations up!

For those of you in the DC area, please take my advice and check out ICE! It is amazing! It is a Christmas themed exhibit where everything is made of ice. The vignettes are spectacular and range from a ten foot slide you can ride to a full, life-sized nativity scene. I will warn you that it is cold - it is basically a self-guided tour through a large tent that is kept at - gulp - nine degrees. They do offer huge, unfashionable parkas as you enter but no gloves so you must bring your own. Trust me - you will need them! Here are some pics....

My friend Rachel and I checking out the gorgeous Gaylord Hotel at National Harbor - the Christmas decorations were amazing!

This is a picture of the castle that doubles as an ice slide!

My photos do not do it justice - it is really amazing!

Now, for something equally amazing - my Christmas decor. I'm happy to have everything up and ready to enjoy my tree every night when I come home.

My cute little tree! This is probably the last year I will be able to use this little guy - I'm running out of space for all my ornaments!

One of my favorite new ornaments!

One of my favorite cheap decor ideas - decorating with cranberries!

The ice exhibit looks amazing and I was reading on another blog that they have something like this in Florida too. I almost want to make the drive down your way to see it during the holidays. Your little tree is cute and I have an ornament just like your “b” one. I love it! The jars with ornaments look really pretty too.

Your decorations are very pretty. And what a great idea to use cranberries. We went to ICE! right before Thanksgiving and it was so fun. I want to go back! Here are some pictures I took- http://www.flickr.com/photos/wawdecamp/sets/72157622836979317/.

BTW, I've been to the Preppy Pink Pony several times and I love it! I bought each of my mom's Christmas presents there.

I was trying to google the Preppy Pink Pony and came across your blog! I love your posts - and I too love all things preppy! And then I noticed that you're an interior designer too! Thanks for all the great posts-keep them coming! I'm headed for my first PPP visit after work!

Sunday kicked off at a far more merciful hour, which was a smart bit of planning that accounted for the late hour everyone wandered out of the Eastworks complex the previous night. After requesting some sketches for my new, themed sketchbook (more on that later), I was able to catch the second screening of “Nerdcore Rising,” the recently released documentary about the rise of “Nerdcore” hip-hop.
