Baby on the Brain!

Ok, as I said a few posts ago, one of my best friends is pregnant and one of my other best friends is a new Mommy! As a result, I have baby on the brain! I have been scouring the stores looking for girly baby gifts and, during my online quest, have found some A-DOR-ABLE crib bedding. Though I am years from having wee ones of my own (sigh), it's never too early to start planning, right??? Plus, I've been recruited to help with nursery decor in the next couple months so I have a valid excuse....

For my future daughter perhaps?

For my little son.....

Of course, I have always wanted to do pink and green toile for a girl's room....and maybe my own room as well. :)

Question

I'm not sure if you're aware of this but Elisabeth Hasselbeck has a new line of clothes on QVC. Her line is pretty cute and I have found one item I am interested in purchasing. I really love this cardigan - draped over a white button-up or a cute dress! My question is....which color??? I love, love, love pink but the tan is nice too. I just cannot decide. Help me!

Also, please feel free to tell me if you hate it. I can take it...

Preppy Babies!

In honor of my BFF who had her first baby early this morning (a girl - yippee), I have decided to highlight some fashions for today's preppy baby, fashions that I hope my child will someday wear!

This is one of the gifts I will be sending her....

....and this is the other!

Important Decision

One of my favorite blogs - Misadventures of a Newlywed - alerted me to a fabulous online store. I know I have visited Pineapple Grove Gifts before (she's one of my followers) but Mrs. Newlywed brought these adorable prints to my attention and now I need one. My question is.... which one? They are all so cute! Don't make me choose! If you're interested in buying one of these, check out the web site and enjoy 15% off, courtesy of Misadventures of a Newlywed. Check out her blog for the code.

Note to self....

Have your boyfriend re-caulk your tub before you break up with him. I've learned this lesson the hard way this evening...

On three different occasions now, I have attempted to re-caulk my tub. I asked many people if I should just hire someone to do this and they all said no - it's so easy. Maybe it is for some people, but not this girl! As a result of my most recent attempt, my manicure is ruined and I may permanently have caulk in my hair. The worst part of all this? This project has kept me from a really fantastic (and when I say fantastic I of course mean terrible) Lifetime movie starring Tara Reid. Oh, the horror.

BTW - thanks to all of you who responded to my last post! What great comments!

What's wrong with that?

I would like to initiate a topic of discussion among you, my fabulous followers. I had an experience today that I believe warrants a whole posting. I was having a discussion with another woman - 35 years of age - and we came upon a topic that is somewhat controversial. We were discussing career/life goals and I expressed my supreme desire to one day be a stay-at-home Mom. Let's just say that this woman's response was less than friendly. As soon as I said it, I got what I perceived as a cold physical response as if to say, "That's all?" Now, I am not saying that I would never go back to work or that I would never work part-time, but I believe that children need a parent at home with them, especially when they're young. If I am lucky enough to marry a man who makes a good enough living so that I did not have to work, I would most definitely stay home with my young children. Personally, I don't really understand the point of having children only to see them an hour a day. My Mom was a stay-at-home Mom and I know for a fact that my brother and I would not be as wonderful as we are had it not been for her. ;) Now, I understand that not every person is fortunate enough to have the option to stay home, nor does every woman want to stay home. To the women that want to continue to work I say - more power to you! I just don't appreciate the judgment I've received on several occasions from those who think women choose to stay home because they're lazy and just don't want to work. No! I want to experience every second of my unborn blond baby's life! So, that's all I have for you. Excuse me while I climb down off my soap box. I decided to write about this not only because of my frustration, but because I would love to hear from you - other women! What are your thoughts?

O-M-G

So, here I am innocently watching The Real Housewives of NYC when a really disgusting ad comes on. Have any of you heard of the new online 'dating' (and I use that term loosely) site, www.onlinebootycall.com? Call me old-fashioned but I find this totally gross. I thought these types of ads were reserved for 3am, not while I am trying to enjoy guilty pleasure reality TV!

Thank you so much to Just Lovely for this fab award!

The award rules are as follows:
List 7 things that you love, and then pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you love! Be sure to tag them and let them know that they have won. You can copy the picture of the award and paste it on your sideboard letting the whole world know...you are Kreativ!

1. Springtime - I can feel it coming... warmer weather, beautiful flowers, a new beginning!

2. Spring Wardrobe - With the change of seasons of course comes the change of wardrobe. I cannot wait to pack up my heavy winter coats and trade them in for lighter, brighter Spring clothes!

3. Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo - I discovered this amazing product several months ago and would be lost without it. For girls with hair that tends to get a little greasy, this shampoo is a lifesaver. Just spray it on and it absorbs all the oiliness, leaving hair fluffy and fabulous!

4. Barefoot Contessa recipes - I love, love, love Barefoot's style of cooking. Simple and classic. Nothing pleases me more than when I am able to execute a Barefoot Contessa recipe perfectly.

5. Babies - Two of my best friends are pregnant and I cannot wait to start buying baby clothes, books, toys, etc. for their little ones! LOTS of monograms, of course.

6. Jodi Picoult - The last three books I've read have all been written by Jodi Picoult. I love her writing style and her books are easy, light reading - great for travel.

7. Tory Burch Revas - I know nearly everyone has a pair of these fab shoes nowadays, but I still love mine as much as I did when I first bought them. They are so comfortable and I love all the colors. I currently have black, pink, and silver but I'm feeling as though a new, bright, Spring color might be in my future. :)

It's all downhill from here....

WOW. I was watching the news this morning and this story made my jaw drop. This is not good news for me, a 27 year old prep. :( It also comes only a few days after I bought my first under eye wrinkle cream. Noooo!

Confessions of a Single Girl Part I

Ok, I am sharing something kind of personal with you ladies this evening. Here it goes....I recently became a member of chemistry.com. I'm not proud but I want to get married some day and have little blond babies so I had to make a move. It is very hard to meet men in DC - they tend to be a little career obsessed. I do not enjoy meeting men at bars and, in general, I don't really even like going to bars. In my previous line of work (interior design) I was unlikely to meet any (straight) men and I now work at a super small firm with 3 other people so I'm unlikely to meet anyone there. I'm a little on the shy side and generally have a hard time meeting boys. So, there's my excuse. Now to my question - should I continue with this? I have to admit that I've been less than enthusiastic about the majority of men who have shown interest in me. Granted, I have been on it less than a month but still... If I go through all the 'steps'(there are two steps before open communication) and then the guy doesn't make the move to email me, should I email him? I'm an old-fashioned girl but I just don't know! Should I try eHarmony or Match instead? Should I give it all up and listen to my married girlfriends - the ones who say "Love always happen when you stop looking." Is this really true? Help me out ladies!

Spring Jewelry!

So, I was shopping at J. Crew today and I noticed this woman with a fabulous turquoise necklace (see below). Normally, I am too shy to ask people where they purchased items of clothing/jewelry that I like. Luckily, in this instance, the sales girls did it for me. Anyway, I looked up the company as soon as I got home and I love their stuff! Some of it is a little on the pricey side but may be worth the investment... Anyway, the name of the company is Stella & Dot. Check it out!

Lilly + Martha = Perfection

Today was the day! The Martha Stewart Show dedicated a whole hour to all things Lilly! I watched and thought it was so well done. Several of my fellow preppy bloggers were featured in the audience - congrats to Kappa Prep and Nautical by Nature! I hope you both had a lovely time! In honor of this special day, I thought I would share with you all some Lilly items I'm lusting for. Also, for the remainder of March, enter the promotion code MARTHA and receive a special gift with your order at www.lillypulitzer.com, courtesy of Martha Stewart. :)

It will be mine. Oh, yes. It will be mine.

I found these first two images from a realty web site the other day and it inspired me to start a 'Dream Kitchen' folder. I thought I'd share it with you all! Enjoy!

Lilly? Is that you?

I was at Costco recently and guess what I found there? Lilly Pulitzer dresses!!! Calm down. Don't run out to Costco just yet. They were, unfortunately, little girl's Lilly dresses. Don't think I didn't scour that place for an adult size. I did - there were none to be found. I also seriously considered buying one for my future daughter. Keep in mind that I am not engaged, have no serious boyfriend, and am probably at least 3-5 years away from having children. This non-existent daughter would not have been old enough to wear this dress until roughly 2020. But I thought about it...is that wrong?

Cute Blog Award!

Texan Couture gave me this fabulous award! Thank you!

The challenge is to list ten not so cute things about yourself. Here I go....

1. Generally, I look pretty busted in the morning. If there are days that I wake up and look decent, I get really excited and wish someone was there to see it. I have actual anxiety about finding a boy who will love me, even as bad as I look pre-shower. Not cute.

2. The bottom of my jeans that drag on the ground when I wear flats. Not cute.

3. I tend to use very bad language when I'm driving and another driver wrongs me. Sometimes the words that come out of my mouth shock even me. My mother would be very disappointed... Not cute.

4. I have to agree with Texan Couture, my hair in humidity is awful. I have fine hair and it was just not meant for humid climates. Not cute.

5. My face when I cry is pretty disturbing. My face get 3-4 shades redder than any normal person's face should. Not cute.

6. One time, I feel asleep in the sun with a hand across my leg. One part of my leg was pale white, one was very pink. Not cute.

7. I rarely look good when eating tacos, burgers, or spaghetti no matter how hard I try. Not cute.

8. I had hard core straight across the face bangs all through high school and into college. This was way before it was trendy and cool to have bangs. It was not cool. I also had not discovered the benefits of Sun-In. Not cute.

9. When any sports team I am rooting for is losing.... Not cute.

10. After a long day, I come home, put on sweats, remove all make up, throw my hair up and pin it back, and put on my glasses. Not cute.

Ok! Now you know at least ten of my dirty, not cute secrets! Please don't think less of me! :)
I give this award to....
